About WipeOut
WipeOut is inspired by the amazing powers of our brains, by the patterns and visions formed inside my head during a session with closed eyes in front of the incredible cyberdelic light machine, the Lucia No3 - and by playing WipEout in virtual reality on the PS4 with my nephew and niece.
This has been such a puzzle to paint, with lots of moving parts and 51.427 tiny decisions to make, but a fun one for sure! Especially when the entire thing started to look like what I had imagined. …EMERGING from the (previously) white canvas like a 4D landscape. The magic of that moment is the most magnificent buzz.
My first meeting with the light machine that inspired the painting was at the Breaking Convention conference at Greenwich University in London (here’s my article on the conference). Some months later, I was invited to meet up once again with the inventors of the light machine to test out some new functionalities.

The third picture is a work in progress photo of the painting, taken three hours before completion.
